BakerTilly Information Session - April 4, 2024

Gary and Anna from BakerTilly came to Langara to delve into industry specifics, career paths, and the skills needed to excel in the accounting field. Students got the opportunity to network after the information session and explored avenues for growth and achievement at BakerTilly.

MNP Information Session - March 19, 2024

5 representatives from MNP came to Langara to share their firm's opportunities and gave insight into the world of Accounting! The representative spoke about industry specifics, career paths, and the skills needed to excel at their firm.

After the information session, students got a chance to network with the MNP representatives.

Spring 2024 Clubs Day - January 9, 2024

Club Day was a resounding success for the Langara Accounting Club! We were thrilled to connect with so many enthusiastic students at Langara College interested in the world of accounting.

LAC x CAA Case Competition Networking Event - November 19, 2023

The LAC x CAA Case Competition concluded with a networking event at Tap and Barrel. Teams, faculty, judges, and esteemed guests got to mingle and networking with other students and firm representatives that were not at the case competition portion of the day.

LAC x CAA First Cross-School Case Competition - November 19, 2023

In honour of the memdorandum of understanding signed by the Presidents of Langara College and Capilano University, the Langara Accounting Club and Capilano Accounting Association organized the first event putting this memorandum into action. Both student-led clubs designed and organized a case competition geared towards the Accounting/Business industry. 

The 6 teams that were chosen were given a case the morning of the competition. Each team had 3 hours to read, analyze, and come up with a solution for the case. A panel of four judges scored each teams' recommendation and winners were chosen based on the judges' scores. Cash prizes were given to the winning teams. First place $650.00, second place $400.00, and third place $250.00.

CPABC Post-Secondary CPA Information Session - October 19, 2023

Rebecca Dirnfeld, Senior Recruitment Officer at CPABC, came and spoke about all the aspects of the CPA program. This session went over admission requirements, pre-requisites, examinations, and program structure. We had a great turnout and Rebecca answered everyone's questions!

Fall Clubs Day - September 12, 2023

Some of our Executives spent the day chatting with Langara students about what our club does. We shared information about the types of events we host and promote, as well as volunteer and career opportunities we receive from accounting firms in our community. Our hand sanitizers, notepads, and stickers were a huge hit! We had so much fun meeting and talking with everyone who came to our booth!

Spring Networking Event - April 5, 2023

CPABC and 13 accounting firms came to Langara's A foyer to talk with accounting students about their companies. Students got the opportunity to network with the firm representatives to gain a better understanding of what firms are looking for in their student candidates. CVITP Tax Clinic - March 27 to 31, 2023

This was our first in-person tax clinic since 2018! Several students from Langara volunteered and trained to assist Langara students file their taxes for free. We had such a great turnout and our volunteers were able to expand their tax knowledge. Thank you to everyone who filed their taxes with our volunteers Hope to see you again next year!
